In the counseling profession, we all work with those that are struggling to cope with life. That struggle sometimes leads to thoughts of ending one’s life, or attempting to do so. Some of our clients will struggle chronically with these thoughts and the revolving door of inpatient care is not always the answer. As knowledgeable professionals, it is our duty to understand the psychological development of Chronic Suicidal Ideation, how to assess for risk, prevent future harm, and best treat those suffering with chronic suicidal ideations in an outpatient counseling setting.
